Summer Camps
WHERE KIDS TAKE CENTER STAGE
Summer Camps at the Paramount encourage young people to explore acting, singing, dancing, creative writing, production design, songwriting and performance. Every camp ends with a performance on the historic Paramount or State Theatre stage! We offer scholarships, as well as early care and after care at full day camps.

Summer Songwriting Workshop
Two Weeks with Half Days
Monday – Friday, 1pm to 5pm
Our Songwriting Workshop returns by popular demand! Calling all aspiring musicians, lyricists, and students that want to learn more about songwriting. The Paramount and State Theatres are known for hosting legendary songwriters from around the world — our 2-week workshop fosters the next generation, culminating in a showcase at the historic Paramount Theatre. Prior musical experience or playing an instrument is a plus, but not required.
Students will learn the basics of songwriting and explore different genres of popular music, led by Akina Adderley, vocalist, songwriter, educator, and Austin Music Award nominee. Featuring another all-star roster of guest musicians including SaulPaul, the three-time Grammy nominated musician with a message; Patricia Vonne, three-time Austin Music Award winner hailed as a “Renaissance woman of Austin, Texas” by the New York Times; and Carrie Rodriguez, a composer, singer, and violinist, who’s last full-length solo recording, Lola, was included in NPR’s best albums list.

“She had such a wonderful time and has developed so much because of your program. Every day she would tell me about what they worked on and what she needed to practice. Every day she jumped out of bed and could not wait to get there. We literally could not drop her off soon enough.”
