Industry Showcase

Our Fall Industry Showcase will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the State Theatre.  It will be presented under the guidance of seasoned professional Paula Russell. Producers, casting directors and agents will be invited to attend. Intermediate students or students who have taken several classes at our school are encouraged to audition.

In order to participate in the Showcase, actors are required to audition.

Auditions for the Showcase will be held Sunday, October 3 with callbacks Sunday, Oct. 10 from 5-8pm. For the audition, a 2-3 minute scene is preferred. Your scene partner does not have to be auditioning, although they may do so. If you cannot find a scene partner, please prepare a 1-2 minute monologue. Only 10 students will be accepted. Those chosen will be expected to participate in the Industry Showcase Preparatory class led by Paula Russell.

In this class, students will rehearse and refine their scenes, learn how to put together the best possible resume, discuss what makes a good head shot and how to choose audition material that works for them.

A professional headshot and resume will be required for this class. If a student does not have a headshot, or a headshot that meets current industry standards, he/she will be expected to incur the cost of getting one. A list of photographers will be provided as well as a due date for headshots and resumes.

Students will also be expected to participate in finding scenes. Each actor will be performing 2 scenes: a 3 minute comedic scene and a 3 minute dramatic scene.

December 2, 2009 was our last Industry Showcase. It was directed by Paula Russell who also taught the Showcase Preparatory class. The following headshots are of the actors in the showcase. For those agents and casting directors who were not able to attend, we videotaped several scenes for their viewing. The work was filmed and edited by one of our lead film instructors, Gabriel Folse.
