Suggested Curriculum

Two courses per semester are recommended. These are our suggestions; however, you are welcome to orchestrate a curriculum that works for you as long as you are aware of the required prerequisites for the intermediate classes (which can be found on our class listings). Semester 1:

  1. First six weeks - select a beginning acting class. To determine which class is best for you, read about each class and the instructor who teaches it. You have several options:
    1. Beginning Acting for Film & Stage, led by Mj Vandivier or Paula Russell
    2. Creativity of Acting for Film & Stage, led by Babs George
    3. Acting for Film, led by Gabriel Folse or Paula Russell
  2. Second six weeks:
    1. Improvisation 101, led by Shana Merlin or Irene White, OR
    2. The Speaking Voice 101, led by M.J. Vandivier.

Semester 2:

  1. First six weeks - continue your acting class taught by the teacher with whom you started:
    1. Beginning Acting II
    2. Creativity of Acting for Film & Stage, led by Babs George (repeat)
    3. Intermediate Acting for Film (with Instructor’s approval), led by Gabriel Folse or Paula Russell
  2. Second six weeks:
    1. The Speaking Voice 101 led by M.J. Vandivier, OR
    2. Improvisation 101, led by Shana Merlin or Irene White

Semester 3:

  1. First six weeks - acting class continued:
    1. The Actor's Craft: Ongoing Technique Class
    2. Creativity Ongoing Class, led by Babs George
    3. Intermediate Acting for Film, led by Gabriel Folse or Paula Russell
    4. Film Audition, led by Gabriel Folse (can be taken by any intermediate student)
  2. Second six weeks:
    1. Accents and Dialects, led by M.J. Vandivier, OR
    2. Shakespeare's Verse, led by Babs George

Semester 4:

  1. First six weeks - acting class:
    1. The Actor’s Craft: Ongoing Technique Class
    2. Creativity Ongoing Class, led by Babs George
    3. Intermediate Acting for Film, led by Gabriel Folse
    4. Film Audition, led by Gabriel Folse (can be taken by any intermediate student)
