Although Rod Kennedy is perhaps best known as founder of the Kerrville Folk Festival, his music career stretches back to the 1940s when he performed as a big band singer. Over the following six decades, Kennedy organized hundreds of events throughout Texas & the country, helped start Austin’s first FM radio station and its second television station. Join us as we celebrate his 80th birthday and honor his enormous contributions to the cultural heritage of Texas and the nation.

The Center for Texas Music History at Texas State University in San Marcos is a nationally recognized non-profit educational program that seeks to preserve and study the unique musical history of the Lone Star State.
