About the Film

Starring Jason London, Rory Cochrane, Wiley Wiggins, Michelle Burke, Matthew McConaughey, Milla Jovovich, Joey Lauren Adams, Parker Posey, Anthony Rapp, Adam Goldberg, Cole Hauser, and Ben Affleck. Written and directed by Richard Linklater.

Alright, alright, alright…Last January, we took you back to college with ANIMAL HOUSE. This month, we’re going all the way back to high school with DAZED AND CONFUSED, the Richard Linklater coming-of-age masterpiece with a long list of stars in the making, including Matthew McConaughey, Milla Jovovich, Parker Posey, Adam Goldberg, and Ben Affleck.

America, 1976. The last day of school. Bongs blaze, bell-bottoms ring, and rock and roll rocks. Linklater’s film eavesdrops on a group of seniors-to-be and incoming freshmen, featuring endlessly quotable dialogue and a blasting, stadium-ready soundtrack. Sidestepping nostalgia, Dazed and Confused is less about “the best years of our lives” than the boredom, angst, and excitement of teenagers waiting . . . for something to happen.

Seeing this film is essentially a requirement of Austin citizenship. So whether you’re seeing it for the first time, or just renewing your official Austinite card, don’t miss this opportunity to remember your high school days and the moment when Austin indie film production rose to the top of its class. - Stephen Jannise, Film Programmer

This film is presented at Stateside at the Paramount in HD digital presentation on Blu-ray.
