Carter Frazier is scared, but you wouldn't know it from the smile on his face. You may say he's lazy, jobless, broke, and not acting his age, but you wouldn't say he's scared. That's because he keeps his distance from the world. He doesn't put himself on the line. He doesn't really feel it. But it's an un-lived life. He needs a shake-up. And it comes in the form of a lost work of modern art that a strange man gives him before killing himself. Or was it murder? The cops want to know, and that's not his only problem; just when Carter learns the artwork could be worth a fortune, and could change his life, it's gone.
