We are celebrating three beloved film genres over the next two weeks of the 2016 Paramount Summer Classic Film Series!
First, from Tuesday July 5 to Sunday July 10, we have nine of the greatest movie musicals ever filmed, starting with two Rodgers and Hammerstein classics: Oklahoma! on Tuesday July 5 and The King And I on Film Fan Wednesday July 6 (Film Fans get an extra $1 off their ticket!). From turn-of-the-20th-century France in Gigi and Moulin Rouge! to dance favorites like Dirty Dancing, Flashdance, and Magic Mike, you won’t want to miss a single song this week!
We’re especially excited to present two special screenings during Musicals Week. The first will be the Family Film Festival screening of The Sound of Music on Saturday July 9, where adults will enjoy $10 tickets, kids 12 and under will enjoy $6 tickets, and everyone will enjoy this beautiful film with the Paramount’s brand new screen and speakers! Later that night, the Grease Sing-A-Long will have everyone singing their hearts out – this is your chance to let your voice be heard in our 100-year-old theatre!
The following week, we will highlight some of the finest science-fiction and fantasy films ever made. First, the grandfather of motion picture sci-fi, Metropolis will dazzle you on July 12. Then, the heart-racing double feature of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner: The Final Cut and John Carpenter’s The Thing will thrill you on July 13 and 14.
Finally, the EXTENDED EDITIONS of Peter Jackon’s spectacular Lord of the Rings Trilogy will leave you in awe all weekend, with The Fellowship of the Ring on Friday July 15, The Two Towers on July 16, and The Return of the King on July 17. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to take an epic journey in the glorious, historic, and newly updated Paramount Theatre!
